Sitar School of Toronto is an Indian Classical Music School.
Our main focus is on teaching Sitar, though we do other instruments too. We follow the ancient and pure Imdad Khani gharana i.e. style of music. Imdad Khani gharana has produced some of the best instrumental musicians in India for centuries. Presently the gharana is flourishing with it's eighth generation. Ustad Shahid Parvez is the foremost ambassador of Imdad Khani gharana today.
Ustad Shahid Parvez is arguably one of the best sitar players in the world today. He along with Anwar Khurshid is the co founder of Sitar School of Toronto. It is an honour for North America and a great privilege for us that Ustadji teaches in Canada at Sitar School of Toronto for six months every year.
At Sitar school we teach traditional music. We believe in preserving this very traditional and beautiful form of music. The lessons are conducted in a very friendly and loving atmosphere. We believe in good values, friendship, love and practice. We believe that learning music is a part of life. Sitar school is not just a school; it is a family.
